Porridge is a food made by boiling ,crushed or chopped starchy grain like wheat, millet, maize, rice etc. in water or milk. Then it's served with flavorings such as sugar, honey, syrup, etc. to make a sweet cereal or it is also mixed with spices, vegetables, etc. to make a savoury dish. It is usually served hot in a bowl. It's healthy and delicious too.
Today I am going to write about how to make vegetable broken wheat porridge with some spices and cottage cheese.
Ingredients-
1 cup broken wheat porridge (daliya)
2 cups of water
1 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1 medium sized onion chopped
1 large tomato chopped
1 green chili chopped
1/4 tsp ginger chopped
1 small potato diced
1 small carrot diced
1/4 cup green peas
6 French beans roughly chopped
1/4 cup green capsicum roughly chopped
1/4 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp garam masala powder or spice powder
1/4 cup green coriander
1/4 cup cottage cheese cut into small cubes
salt to taste
pinch of black pepper powder
Method-
Wash daliya well in water and let it soak for about 30 minutes in water, after 30 minutes drain the excess water and roast daliya a little in a non stick pan with 1/2 tsp of oil.
Now take a pressure cooker put oil and heat then crackle cumin seeds add onions and cook till soft then add tomatoes and all the vegetables then add all the spices and add roasted daliya then add 1 -1/2 cup of water and pressure cook it for 1to 1/2 whistle then let the pressure cook open by itself don't release it's pressure by yourself , when it's open add coriander leaves and cottage cheese and mix and serve hot with lemon.
